The first month of school is at the end for all students with each District and Auxiliary having their appointed Chairpersons promoting both Voice of Democracy and Patriot Pen program with a right up in your local newspaper. Contact the Principals and teachers on the themes and the deadline to your local Post and Auxiliary.

Students Entries to Post and Auxiliary – November 1, 2015 Post judging is to be completed by November 15, 2015. District- Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen Chairmen November 23, 2015. The District Judging deadline is November 30, 2015. All District Judging is due to the Department Scholarship Chairman by December 15,2015 Remember these young people are our future and this is a great opportunity for them to express their feelings on these patriotic topics in their writings.

You can start now with the Continuing Education Scholarship getting it out to members, (that have belonged for at least one year), their spouse and children. The Continuing Education Scholarship is the VFW Auxiliary program it helps with financial need with their education. This application deadline is February 15, 2016 to National Headquarters. Now is the best time to get your Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest out to your local art teachers for students in grades 9-12, including home-schooled students. The sooner we get it out the more art will be turned in to the VFW Auxiliary’s. Put the Patriotic Art Contest in your local newspapers, put up posters in local Art Gallery’s with permission. Use your social media like Facebook and Twitter. Deadline is March 31, 2016 and to Department Judging by April 15, 2016 with each Department’s Winner to the VFW Auxiliary National Headquarters, Kansas City by May 5, 2016.
